HBA Earns a 2020 ASAE Power of A Summit Award for the Gender Parity Collaborative

The Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) earned a 2020 ASAE Power of A Summit Award for its Gender Parity Collaborative, the first consortium of the healthcare and life sciences companies established to accelerate workplace gender diversity. ASAE honored the program in the category of the Power of Diversity and Inclusion.

HBA’s Gender Parity Collaborative is a forum for healthcare companies to address systemic and environmental issues hampering gender parity progress. Achieving gender parity is a business and societal imperative, as having equal representation of women at all levels will help companies unleash their full potential to better serve patients and stakeholders. After only one year’s time, Collaborative companies have shown robust increases in the percentage of women at all levels of management.

Collaborative companies work together toward a shared goal of not only increasing but accelerating gender parity within their respective organizations. The Collaborative revolves around three interdependent pillars: 1) annual benchmarking and data collection through collaboration with McKinsey; 2) a Global Council strategic meeting, where C-level leaders and alike define strategic priorities; 3) two Solutions Summits to dive into the identified priorities, learn from experts, and share proven solutions.

Leveraging insight from companies and industry data from the annual Women in the Workplace study, member companies have committed to taking an active role in defining strategies, measuring performance, and creating change. Healthcare companies cite diversity as a top priority, yet women continue to be underrepresented at every level of management. Despite $8 billion spent on diversity efforts every year in the U.S., healthcare companies are not satisfied with the slow progress. The HBA identified this gap and created a venue for companies to address the problem in one concerted effort.

ASAE’s Power of A (association) Awards, the industry’s highest honor, recognize the association community’s valuable contributions on the local, national and global levels.  The Power of A Awards reward the outstanding accomplishments of associations and industry professionals who work tirelessly to solve problems, and strengthen lives, the workforce, the economy, and the world.

HBA and the other winners will be honored virtually on September 30 from 6-7:30pm EDT. Tickets are complimentary and sponsorship opportunities are available. This year’s virtual experiences will offer attendees featured options such as a cooking demonstration, mixology class, live music by Keb’ Mo’, an American blues musician and five-time Grammy Award winner, comedy by Kasha Patel and Robert Mac and finally a live, in-program presentation by singer-songwriter Caitlyn Smith.
